Apache on Patrol

This cat was given to a friend of mine and not only became the farm cat, but also the farm protector.
I do not recall how the name Apache came about, but this cat guarded the farm as if it were her very own. And I suppose it was.
She cleared the barn of mice, and kept stray cats from loitering in the area.
She taught the birds there were better places to nest and poop than in the loft and all over the backs of the horses. And more than once she let dogs know that they should poop in their own yard.
She refused to come into the house but had no problems coming onto the porch, and rubbing against your legs. Like many cats she did not want to be picked up, but occasionally would climb on you.
Apache marched to her own rhythm. In this photo she boldly strolls across the round pen, horse be damned.
